Green Concrete has introduced a new & innovative concept for produc- tion of light weight concrete to use as building materials. Green concrete is typically made by mixing water, cement and foam. It contains fewer chemicals.
In addition, it is a nontoxic, lightweight and more environmentally friendly concrete. Besides, it has high air content and fire-resistant properties make it ideal for insulation, soundproofing, partitions, floor panels and more eco-friendly buildings.
Today there are around 10 000 brick fields in Bangladesh and on an average, they produce 3 - 4 million bricks a year. Old-fashioned produc- tion of bricks is one of the largest pollution sources in Bangladesh today.Production of old-fashioned clay brick creates mainly three environmen- tal problems:
The clay is taken from the top cover of land and that land cannot be used for agriculture afterwards. So, huge amount of valuable agri- culture land is being spoiled gradually.
The old-fashioned burning system uses valuable wood for burning the clay bricks. This is the largest producer of CO2 in the country today. Moreover, the use of new technology for the burning process involves large investment for the brick field.
As the clay used for production contains salt, this must be washed away from the clay bricks after production using clean water. This is creating a big problem for the drinking water.
